Eric Uglum is an internationally known musician, producer and owner of New Wine Sound Studio in Southern California. Eric has made a career of highlighting and complementing the talents of others, whether on stage or behind the recording console of his studio. He is often content to play subtle guitar and mandolin backup or add in a stunning vocal harmony, whatever best serves the song. With the release of his 2004 solo recording Shenandoah Wind on Backcountry Records, Eric has answered the outcry of his long-time following, bringing his soulful lead singing and guitar playing to the forefront in a very moving combination of songs that together reflect some of Eric’s musical affinities. Selected by Bluegrass Now magazine as the best album of 2004, guests on the project include Alison Krauss, Ron Block, Stuart Duncan and Rob Ickes. Eric also performs with his remarkably talented sons, Austin (17) and Christian (15), in Chris Stuart & Backcountry, and recently the three have recorded a project produced by Janet Beazley entitled, The Old Road to Jerusalem. Eric describes the new CD as “very diverse,” which challenges the boys to “play like seasoned adults.” Sound clips can be found here and the CD is available for purchase by visiting Eric's Shopping Cart.
Eric offers: Multi-track recording, mixing, mastering, producing, digital editing, pitch correction, archival cassette tape and vinyl restoration, voice overs, post production, CD duplication, instrumental tracking including in house musicians who arrange, produce, sing lead or harmony, play acoustic and electric guitars, violin/fiddle, viola, banjo, mandolin, flutes and woodwinds, acoustic upright and electric bass, orchestration, drums and percussion.

Chris Stuart - Bluegrass Now Magazine "Entering the studio, one is immediately impressed by the amount and range of recording gear, the isolated recording areas, the comfortable and acoustically superior control room, the pictures on the wall. But that's not what makes this a great studio. What makes New Wine Studio great is the man sitting at the console, Eric Uglum." |
The Gloryland Band - California"Extra special thanks to Eric Uglum who played lead guitar, upright bass, and mandolin on our project. In addition, Eric was our audio engineer and producer. Without his musical expertise, audio and electronic know-how, and –most especially- his patient, gentle guidance, our CD could not have been made. Thank you, Eric, from the bottom of our hearts." |
